Quality measurement of analog and digital terrestrial television broadcasting
Zach, Ondřej ; Polák, Ladislav (referee) ; Slanina, Martin (advisor)
This bachelor‘s thesis deals with the description of basic features of the analog and digital television broadcasting and suggestion of a method for objective video quality evaluation at both broadcasting types. The base of this thesis is description of picture broadcast technology in analog and digital form. Also principles of some video quality evaluation metrics are described. In this thesis, a method for video quality comparison is suggested, including a verifying of this method. According to this method, sequences at changing broadcasting conditions were recorded for both broadcasting types. The quality factors of these sequences were computed and on the basis of these factors, the analog and digital TV broadcasting were compared.
Measurement of DVB-T set top boxes selected parameters
Hrazděra, Tomáš ; Kratochvíl, Tomáš (referee) ; Štukavec, Radim (advisor)
This project treats of the system of the terrestrial digital TV broadcasting DVB-T. It explains the principles of source and channel encoding and the channel modulation. The analysis of parameters defined by the recommendation ETSI TR 101 290 for the purpose of measuring of the parameters of the digital TV broadcasting (set top boxes) is elaborated. Further it describes the functions of the set top box itself and executes the analysis of chosen receivers including the description of their typology. On its base the measurable parameters of commercially accessible receivers, which underwent the tests were chosen. The results are elaborated in the tabular and graphic forms, including the analysis of their influence on the quality of the received broadcast.
Program for design of CATV
Sedláček, Jan ; Hála, Ondřej (referee) ; Říčný, Václav (advisor)
The main task of this master’s thesis is to create an interactive computer programme for the design of small and medium television cable circuits. The first part of this document describes main conceptions of a modification and a distribution of television signals. There are also introduced basic topologies of small and medium sized distribution networks, some passive and active elements in the circuit including their usage. There is also described an algorithm for calculation of circuit’s values. The second part contains a detailed description of created programme with all of its functions. A part of this document is made by a sample calculation of the four variants of circuit and its comparison with computer calculation. In suplement are included selected parts of source code.
Synchronized recording of sound track and hidden captions
Karas, Pavel ; Člupek, Vlastimil (referee) ; Sysel, Petr (advisor)
In my bachelor thesis I synchronized the records audio and closed captioning. This work contains the basic theory on this topic. The theory focuses on means of depositing and synchronize subtitles with the audio track. Describes the main characteristics DVB-T, technology description and multiplexes in the Czech Republic. It also describes the basic characteristics subtitles, DVD-Video and broadcast webcast. In the second part of my thesis is to study the methods of transmission captions and system design in C.
DVB-T transport stream analysis software
Macek, Libor ; Hála, Ondřej (referee) ; Slanina, Martin (advisor)
This thesis deals with development and implementation of program which enables DVB transport stream service information analysis. Theoretical part is focused on MPEG2 source coding of video signal and multiplexing into DVB transport stream. Practical part deals with program’s individual software modules implementation, which are used for data reading, their processing and presentation in form of service information. The program enables analysis of service information from live terrestrial television broadcasting DVB-T by PC card TechniSat AirStar 2 usage.
Methods for image enhancement in interactive applications of digital telecasting
Švanda, Vít ; Vlach, Jan (referee) ; Číka, Petr (advisor)
In this dissertation we deal with methods of minimizing block artefacts in digital terrestrial TV broadcasting. These artefacts are caused by compressions based on the cosine transformation (JPEG, MPEG2 I-Frames). The aim of this work is therefore to create a DVB-J application the main function of which would be to minimize block artefacts in natural images transmitted by DVB-T. That is why we first inquire into the technology of DVB digital transmission and MHP platform which provides the function and the running of interactive applications. Next, we define differences between Java and JavaTV languages and describe the way they develop, simulate and start DVB-J applications. In the following part of this work, we analyze methods that can be used to detect and minimize block artefacts. Further on, we describe the design of an adaptive filter which minimizes block artefacts (hereinafter just ´MHP-MBA´). The major result of the entire work is an MHP-Deblocking application that in itself implements a newly created MHP-MBA deblocking filter as well as a filter from video kodek H.263. In the final part we concern ourselves with testing this application on a genuine set-top-box in DVB-T broadcasting.
Dual-band directional antenna for receiving DVB-T signal
Matyáš, Petr ; Šebesta, Jan (referee) ; Lukeš, Zbyněk (advisor)
The main goal of the masters project is to design a dual band antenna for receiving DVB-T signal in the area of the city of Brno. The antenna will be designed and detaily adjusted for receiving multiplex 1 and 3, exactly for frequencies of 538 MHz and 778 MHz. The designed antenna will be deeply tested in 4nec2 and CST Microwave Studio programs.
Utilization of MHP platform in DVB-T
Janík, Lukáš ; Balík, Miroslav (referee) ; Kohoutek, Michal (advisor)
This bachelor‘s thesis solves the problem of digital television and set-top boxes, more precisely MHP platform and its use in DVB-T. In the first chapters I talk about analogue terrestrial broadcasting and necessity of transition to digital broadcasting. In addition, you can read about the necessity of the MHP platform implementation as the stable part of the DVB-T. I analyse this platform and describe the pros, cons and possibilities for its use at presen and in the future. I mention the different types of set-top boxes and their main manufacturers. I also describe an application development cycle, from writing the source code, despite testing in the development environment of IRT, respectively Osmosys, until loading to the real set-topbox. I also represent here the practical part of my bachelor‘s thesis, which was the development of chat client for the MHP platform and it allows two users to communicate in real time. This application I tested in the IRT and I uploaded it to the real set-top box. Next I analyze Java programming language, such as the appropriate development language for this platform. I mention the HAVi standard and its relevancy in usage of MHP platform.
Network planning for digital terrestrial television and radio broadcasting
Dostal, Radek ; Ulovec,, Karel (referee) ; Kratochvíl, Tomáš (advisor)
Master’s thesis is focused on SFN (Single Frequency Network) and MFN (Multi Frequency Network) networks design in digital television broadcasting based on DVB-T standard and digital radio broadcasting based on T-DAB standard. First part of the thesis is focused on the theoretical description of the MPEG-2 TS transmission, its propagation from transmitter across free space, to be decoded in the DVB-T receiver. In the second, practical part of the thesis, basic parameters of a software package for broadcast network design in RadioLab, RadioBase and Sítě SFN are introduced and the results are displayed on the digital terrain map and morphologic map. Within solution of this thesis was created signal coverage model of DVB-T digital transmitters in entire area of the Czech Republic, so called networks no. 1-4, according to its status in spring 2010, and its future expansion, which is known from TPP (Technical Plan of Conversion) document. At the conclusion of thesis there were made experiments with the modeling of transmitters’ radiated power, guard interval selection and location of DVB-T transmitters in the SFN network.
Realization of OFDM coder for DVB-T system
Zelinka, Petr ; Maršálek, Roman (referee) ; Frýza, Tomáš (advisor)
The contents of this thesis is a delineation of the European Standard ETSI EN 300 744 for terrestrial digital video broadcasting (DVB-T) and a description of created OFDM coder and decoder for baseband signal transmission in 2K mode without error correction capabilities. The proper function of both devices is verified by means of Matlab simulations and practically implemented into Texas Instruments’ digital signal processor TMS320C6711 using Starter Kits.
